20: A WEEK OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, DETECTING DECEPTION & COACHING REFLECTIONS
Diverse Stories, One Newsletter
An introduction to this week's newsletter, promising a blend of personal, legal, and professional insights throughout this week’s SPECIAL NEWSLETTER.
Video above: A short clip, indicating the number one body language, move of deception, from the new documentary on Netflix, called, “Lover, Stalker, Killer” (2024). Can you spot the deceptive tell?
The past 7-days has been exceptionally hectic, filled with numerous significant events that I'm eager to share with you, though I'm not quite sure where to start.
Let's begin with a groundbreaking legal case: the mother of a Michigan school shooter, who tragically took the lives of four students and injured others, has been convicted of manslaughter. This marks a notable moment in legal history, as her son is already serving a life sentence for the shooting.
Moving on from the courtroom to the conference room, I had the opportunity to speak at a sales conference in Florida. There, I delved into the nuances of body language, particularly how it intertwines with the concept of vulnerability in leadership. This exploration into non-verbal communication was enlightening, and I'm excited to share those insights with you.
In my downtime, I watched a compelling documentary on Netflix, which highlighted the intricate connection between certain body language cues and deception, as demonstrated by a murderer. This viewing added another layer to my understanding of non-verbal cues.
Moreover, tonight is particularly intense because I’m fighting a bad cold and I’m preparing to appear on Court TV, at 8:40pm EST, to discuss the challenging dynamics a battered woman faces when testifying in court, specifically in cases where she is covering up for her abuser's heinous acts, such as the murder of a young child.
On a more personal note, I had a heart-wrenching conversation with my youngest son, Jack. He bravely confided in me that he's been subjected to bullying at school. Two of his peers have been physically assaulting him out of the teachers' sight, threatening the loss of friendship if he speaks out. This situation has deeply affected me and underscores the importance of addressing bullying with empathy and action.
Each day, as I sit down to write to you, I find myself torn between multiple stories, each deserving its own spotlight. Consequently, I've started drafting several newsletters simultaneously. However, for this week's edition, I've decided to give you a glimpse into each of these areas. Starting later tonight and each day this week we will explore these topics in greater depth in separate newsletters, hoping to provide not just information, but also insights and reflections on these diverse yet interconnected experiences.
